park(ing) day twin cities

turn a parking meter into a park!

Originally developed by REBAR, a San Fransisco art and design collective, PARK(ing) Day is now a global event where citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. Anyone can participate in PARK(ing) Day, whether by building a mini-park, or just stopping to say hello. A strictly non-commercial project, PARK(ing) Day is intended to encourage creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking and unscripted social interaction. In 2008 & 2009 Works Progress organized (PARK)ing Day in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
